Bid Coin is a part of the "PGC Presents" line, a curated selection of games that are harder to find, recommended by us, or are the releases of a fellow independent publishing company or designer that we respect. "PGC Presents" is a project to help boost the signal of indie creators that we love to support and think others might as well.

Bid Coin is a release from Japan by designer Shibu (Peter’s 2 Sheepdogs, Thank You Santa, Hollywood Sensation). Portland Game Collective has nothing to do with the release or production of this game. We stock this game in an effort to help a fellow indie designer, Shibu, get their releases to a wider audience.“PGC Presents” titles are not guaranteed to have English rules and may require translation or a quick internet search.

FUN FACT: This is Lee’s favorite release from the 2024 Fall Tokyo Game Market. It’s so much fun, with very interesting and unique bidding. Perfect for a “let’s play once more!” gaming session.

Description from BGG:

Bid Coin is a trick-taking game where players try to win a number of tricks over several rounds in ways that sum to combinations of their personal bid cards (numbered 1, 2, 3, 5, and 7).

When a player wins a trick which will make them exceed the sum of their current bid card(s), they must use one of their currently unused bid cards to increase the sum of their bid. If at the end of a round they have won a number of tricks equal to exactly the sum of their used bid card(s), they discard all the bid card(s) that were used that round.

There is also a “shoot the moon” which is achieved by a zero bid. If a player successfully shoots the moon, they may discard any unused bid card currently in their possession. However, failing a zero bid will draw additional “1 value” bid cards per trick taken over zero that will need to be discarded in a future round.

The first player to discard all of their bid cards wins the game. If no player is able to discard all of their bid cards after three rounds, then the player who has the lowest value of bid cards remaining wins.
